Catherine Rimmer
Counsellor, BA, MBACP
I am Irish born and have lived in London for over half my life. My website name ‘Léargas’ means ‘insight’ in Gaelic. Making my home in a country different to my place of birth has given me an understanding of being part of the diaspora and the richness and challenges that may present.
I studied philosophy at Trinity College Dublin but my interest and love for philosophy started long before that. From a young age I was given a broad and deep education in Vedic Philosophy, the philosophy of unity, and meditation.
These tools have proved invaluable and have supported my deep interest in what it means to be human, how we make meaningful connections, how we find a place of belonging and how ultimately we find peace within ourselves.
Before becoming a counsellor, I had a career in education and have had training in death doula work as well as in shamanic practices.
My therapy training is in Psychosynthesis Counselling and was undertaken at the Psychosynthesis Trust in London.
My intention is to be fully present for my clients. To hold a space that is nourishing and beautiful even when working through the challenges that need to be explored. It is an honour to be allowed to hold space for somebody and it is something I do with care and integrity.
I have experience with a range of issues including depression, self-esteem, gender identity, anxiety and stress, addictions, bereavement, panic attacks, family and relationship concerns, career or life choices and questions of meaning and spirituality.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and adhere to their ethical framework in my practice.
